The goal — in the capital of capitalism — to isolate the dollar for a single day.
To bring together people to exchange products, services, food, and knowledge, without the use of money. To prefigure a diverse and complex human community, a free association of producers and consumers (“prosumidores” is the term they use in Venezuela). Bring books, clothes, posters, tools, art, etc: anything of value (use, exchange and/or intrinsic), and participate in an experiment to rediscover our humanity in the ancestral art of unalienated economics!
Important: If Trueke is new to you, plan to arrive thirty minutes early, at 2pm, for an orientation by Livio Rangel, organizer with the Red Nacional de Trueke from Venezuela.

Nuestro objetivo es la creación de economías locales, sustentables, basadas en el cuidado de la tierra, de la gente y de los recursos endógenos de nuestras comunidades. Creemos en el Trueke como una alternativa necesaria al modelo económico capitalista y al dinero. Recuperamos, recreamos y practicamos el Trueke Directo de nuestros productos, servicios y saberes; y sumamos también la posibilidad de intercambiar a través de una Moneda Comunal (o Facilitador de Truekes) que es de propiedad social de la comunidad y se sustenta en una ética ecológica, solidaria y socialista.
Our goal is the creation of sustainable local economies based on care for the land, for the people and for the resources native to our communities. We believe in Trueke as a necessary alternative to money and the capitalist system. We recuperate, recreate and practice the direct exchange of products, services, and knowledge, and we also join with the possibility of exchanging using a Communal Currency (or facilitator of (ex)change), which is social property of the community and sustained in an ethics of ecology, solidarity and socialism.
To overcome the alienation between consumers and producers: to become prosumers!
