Ecosocialist Horizons Hour: January 9th, 2013
Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo ~
This week’s program highlights the toll that the Global South pays for the resource addicted-economies of the overdeveloped world. Forty percent of Swalizand faces acute food shortages while its government exports biofuels made from one of its staple crops, cassava. Coltan, fundamental component of laptops and cellular phones, has driven years of war in the Congo and massive civilian casualties. What will it take to end resource Imperialism and usher in an age of ecologically just development? We will be joined in the studio by Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, founder of the No FEAR coalition, and a former senior policy analyst for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), who was prosecuted by the federal government for blowing the whistle on the enormous human and ecological costs of vanadium minding in South Africa.
