Ecosocialist Horizons Hour: December 26th, 2012
Joel Kupferman ~
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, New Yorkers’ health and safety remain dramatically impacted. This week’s program will examine the relations between the state, capital, and environmental crisis in storm-struck communicates. How did FEMA’s absence affect those in the Rockaways, whose residents are now threatened by airborne Asbestos molecules? How have residents near the Gowanus canal, “one of the nation’s most extensively contaminated water bodies,” coped with the canal’s flooding during the storm? We will be joined in the studio with distinguished activist and lawyer Joel Kupferman. Kupferman is Executive Director of the New York Environmental Law and Justice Project and has been defending the rights of New Yorkers to healthy communities for decades.
